Table lamps in retro style

Talking about lamps it is impossible to miss one wonderful event which is taking place in Italy now. On the 12th of May in Milan the grandiose exhibition “Space Age Lights” started in Triennale Design Museum. As it is known, the 60-70s were fairly called the Cosmic era because the human intended to win the Universe, discover and explore all possible and impossible planets.

Until the 5th of September all visitors in Milan have the possibility to choose and purchase one of more than 60 table lamps created in 60s and in the beginning of 70s from the international collections in the limits of mass production or the unique works of the design of famous masters. Among the designers whose lamps are sold there are Joe Colombo, Vico Magistretti, Giotto Wick, Gino Sarfatti. This is very suitable exhibitions for the connoisseur of retro and just lovers of industrial design.

The Triennale Design Museum in Milan tells and portrays the history of Italian design
from different perspectives, through different stories, interpretations, and approaches. The first exhibition in 2007 was entitled “Italian design’s seven obsessions”. 100 Italian design objects set against films, created by film maker Peter Greenaway. The second installation in 2009 was called “Serie fuori serie” and showed products manufactured in series and one-off pieces, curated by Andrea Branzi. The museum is directed by Silvana Annicchiarico, who has been
the curator of the permanent collection of Italian design of the Triennale for nine years.
